iv just finished making my motorised video camera mount box - how do the tv companies get the camera to rotate remotely?

there must be,

a - a screen to view whats being filmed

b - a transmitter to transmit back to the trackside

c - a way of remotly moving the camera motor

not gonna make it remote but just wondered - there must be some serious kit to do it

I don't think it'd fit on a Westy but for remote camera location this is the kind of thing we use.

The controls and a remote viewfinder/monitor are set up at a remote location. For the stuff we do we have a cable link from camera to operator but it can be done with microwave instead.

None - it's powered by a treadmill driven generator powered by the junior members of the team. That's why they call them 'runners'  :D  ???

Seriously though, a 14.4V lithium ion battery gives about 60 minutes continuous use - mind you, this one is gyro stabilised so lesser models run for much monger that that.

It's all servo driven, so the operator has proper controls that respond at the correct rate etc.

lol - not  *QUITE* what i had in mind. lol. i saw the aussie V8 supercars were using motorised cams - so someone must be controlling them from trackside - some serious kit i would bet

For in car use we've used these Sony cameras which have a remote control. The system we hired has a radio link from car to control including the video signal etc. Fantastic system but a bit privy - it comes in at about £6k per camera channel.

That's a lot for a toilet-based camera!
