Depends on how much bhp and weight you have in the first place!

Really think you will need to do the maths. If you had 100bhp and a 500kg car then you would need to lose about 2.5kg to have a power to weight ratio of 101bhp/tonne.

b****r I think I need to go on a diet :(  Must be down at least 8bhp/tonne

John,

As Nic says above, depends on what you have in the first place.

A 600 kg car losing 50 kg wouldn't get as much gain as a 500 kg car losing 50 kg so you will need to do the maths or play a little longer on my calculator :D:D:D

BTW: The calculation is - Power / Weight * 1000

In a normal tin top say average 150bhp in 1.5 Tonne 100bhp/Tonne

a 10kg saving is 0.67% f the cars weight so by loosing 10kg's your going to gain 0.67bhp/tonne i.e you'd now have 100.67bhp/tonne.

In a 200bhp 500kg car the bhp/tonne is 400!

a saving of 10kg's is 2% and 2% of 200 is 4 so you gain 4bhp/tonne. which is equivelant to 2.5kg to gain 1bhp!
