Well - for those of you who didn't know - or have not read Mark Stanton's recent posting....

Mark Stanton has retired as Chairman of the WSCC after many years solid leadership - to pursue a more gentle lifestyle of sprinting (occasionaly) and lying low in France.  Well deserved after all the hard work Mark (and family) have contributed over the years.  This means that someone has to fill his shoes and take over the reins.

For those who do not know me, my name is Paul Edden and I guess it may be worth knowing a little about me;

I live near Stafford and have been married to the small angry woman for 27 years now.  I own and run a domicilliary care business in Stoke on Trent - and will be saving a place for Mark shortly.

I bought my westie in 1999 as a very standard CVH engined weekend toy.  Some idiot then suggested that I took it to a track day - and that was it - I was striken with the well know Westfield illness - "upgraditus".

I still have the same car - now running an Ash Mason VX XE and some other mods to running gear and suspension etc - and enjoy competing in the Westfield Speed Series - with some success, having won Class D overall for the last 3 years.

My approach to sprinting is very simple;  1, get car off trailer.  2, check there is enough oil in the engine.  3, kick the tyres.  4, get in and enjoy yourself.

I also enjoy the roadgoing aspect of my Westie and will often be found having the wet taken out of me at events as I administer another layer of polish to the bodywork.  I like to see the shine you see!  Hence, I am one of the few people in my class who still has comfy seats and a full set of carpets :p

So - a new era for the Westfield Club.  I have many different ideas about the future direction of the club.  But - I cannot do this alone so would welcome your input at any time should you wish to suggest something benefial to the club and it's members.  Please drop me a PM at any time.

Finally - a huge thank you to my fellow committee members;  they are having to put up with me asking a lot of questions as I settle into the role.  As the saying goes - couldn't do it without you!

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming months and gathering ideas for your club.  My next sprint meeting is Shelsley Walsh this coming Saturday (3rd July) - so come say hello if you are there too. :)  I will be in car 151.
