Dave
The Muppet that owned my 1991 SEI Wide before me, butchered the lower steering column by drilling out the spline clamp bolts and replacing them with longer bolts and nylock nuts.?? This has in turn "F"ed the upper column and the rack. the racks not a problem but the other parts ? ? Is the lower column a factory part, a modified Group 4 Mk2 escort one? Or from some other car? Where can I get one. ?Is the upper column form an Austin Allegro.Or from some other car? Where can I get one. Ta Dave

stu999
Neil, early cars have Escort upper column, later Westfield upper columns are Allegro, again modified by the factory, or alternatively a brand new one is available from the factory. stu999
I havent mate sorry. All I can tell you is that there was a discussion some time ago on what steering wheel boss fits the Westfield column. Somebody mentioned that it was an Escort boss required but I went in with both feet knowing full well my mates Westy had an Allegro column just recently modified by the factory. Little did I know my Westy was sat on the drive with an Escort column fitted.... Quick identification seems to be whether the car has a steering lock fitted (Allegro) or not (Escort). I will have a look later to see if I can find the thread. HTH Stu.
