McSpreader Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 As I near the completion of my build, I am thinking that I might get myself along to a good driving instruction course at a local(ish) circuit. As I have never really had a vehicle such as a Westie - I am keen to (i) make the most of it's ability, and (ii) not throw it into a hedge too soon Can anyone advise of 'recommended' courses either in the Midlands or the South East. Also, are their courses which let you take your own car - just incase I fancy trying it out on the Westie?? Thanx Quote
studbuckle Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 I remember reading a website recently about just this thing. I think it's in my favourites at work so i'll have a look there Quote
Blatman Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 Go and see Hugh Noblett at Cadence Driver Developement and tell him Blatman sent you........ Edit Fixed it............... Thanks Pete Quote
Pete Collins Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 Blatman's given you a bad link. Try www.cadence.uk.com Quote
windy Posted August 19, 2002 Posted August 19, 2002 DON PALMER - the best instructor I've experienced. He'll teach you to drive sideways at 100 mph also. You supply the car, he'll supply the instruction - about £400 for one/one tuition for the day. Regards Windy I've not used him personally - but I've sent drivers from work on his courses - honest !!!!!!! Quote
studbuckle Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 The one i'd been looking at was Ride Drive but I can't remember where the reccomendation came from Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 20, 2002 Posted August 20, 2002 You could also try the Institute of Advanced Motorists - they run several courses at very good prices - they do a skid pan session at High Ercall (Midlands-ish) Quote
PeterOz Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 Hope to run a feature on this topic in Westfield World sometime in the New Year - watch this space! Quote
PeterOz Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 Ah... should have said that I'm looking for member's experiences - good and bad!! - of advanced driving schools, both road and track. So if you've a story to tell e-mail it to me at editor@wscc.co.uk Pictures as well, if you have any. Quote
chrisbin Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 Brother-in-law went on one, organised by Porsche, when he got his Boxster S. Had a day with a bloke on public roads and track (Llandow). Turned out this bloke is a c******m owner and also organises track days etc. Does a lot of testing with Porsche in Germany too by all accounts. Anyway, seemed a nice guy and certainly taught b-in-l a lot. His links are Paulskid.coombs@virgin.net or www.roadwyse.co.uk HTH Quote
Julian Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 I can also recommend Steve Smith at Total Control. He's based in Tamworth area. Try www.tc7.co.uk Quote
