Norman Verona Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I'm trying to find a camera dealer in Dover. Yellow pages tells me there isn't one. Anyone help? (in case you're curious I'm coming over for an MOT and need to get a copy of Cannon's zoombrowser to load on my new PC. as I can't find the disk) Quote
peterg Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 30 secs on Google produced: Kent Photos 4 King Street Dover, CT16 1NW Business Type: Camera Dealers Tel 01304 202020 Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 Pete, I've got that one and will be phoning them shortly. But that cannot be the only camera dealer in Dover, can it? Quote
peterg Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Seems to be though there are some in Hythe and Folkestone as well... all other likely shops turn out to be just photographic processing (Zoom Photos was the other one) BTW - I might be able to dig out a copy of Zoombrowser as I have that on my PC I'm too busy with the Westfield Weekend organisation to be able to do it before next week now Quote
cliveboy8 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Cannot answer your question about Dover but have a look here. If you scroll right down there are update files - don't know if they will work if you don't have the original program installed but maybe worth a try. Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 Bernie and Clive, have downloaded both of those and during the download process they ask for your original CD to be inserted. I'm trying the one on the Brothersoft site. I can download it but it can't see the camera. When I try to setup it's asking for a port number as in an RS232 port. I'm about to through the PC and the camera out the window. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I bought my Canon second hand - minus the original manual and with just a CD-Rom copy of the software; but the guy I bought the camera from told me about this site - clicky they are the "official" outlet for the original manual/software packs - not bad for price either, mine was only just over £14 delivered. (Mind you, they're out of stock of some of them now). Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 17, 2010 Author Posted June 17, 2010 Intesesting site. But they don't even list the software for a 300D only documentation. I've contacted Canon and asked them what I should do. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Ah, OK, they're listing photocopy manuals for that model, which means they're out of stock of the original packs with software. Quote
Blatman Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I'm trying to find a camera dealer in Dover. Yellow pages tells me there isn't one. Anyone help? (in case you're curious I'm coming over for an MOT and need to get a copy of Cannon's zoombrowser to load on my new PC. as I can't find the disk) Can you not copy the executable off your old computer? Norman Verona Posted June 20, 2010 Author Posted June 20, 2010 Blatman, sorry - didn't see your response. Probably but there are dozens of registry entries and I'm not typing that liot in. BUT.... result. I contacted Canon who pointed me to Robert Scott Assoc. I rang them and they say the 300D cd is no longer available and to ask Canon what other models are compatable. I sent email off on Friday and have just got a response with a list of other models which are the same. So I look on the site Gadgetman suggested which turns out to be a publication (eos magazine) of Robert Scott Assoc and low and behold my software kit is on its way for the princley sum of £13.84. Thanks all. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Fantastic news Norm, glad you got fixed up. FWIW Canon, (at least in the DSLR field) do seem to be a really helpful company to deal with in these situations. Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 20, 2010 Author Posted June 20, 2010 Well yes and no. They could of course put the software to download pictures from their cameras on line. But, yes, they seem to be very helpful in answering support quries. Quote
