Jackv4 Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 Can you post the sequence of events and the error message(s) word for word please... cheers blatman, this is what comes up once ive installed the disc and i click on one of the files, files currently on disc 24 (i then click on a file and this comes up) windows cant open this file, to open this file, windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it, windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs that are installed on your computer, this is where im lost as ive not got a clue where to go from here, ive tried everything but getting nowhere johny Quote
Blatman Posted June 16, 2010 Posted June 16, 2010 When you say "installed the disc" do you mean that the disc has run and you have installed the TIS system on your computer? If you have, then no idea... If you haven't actually installed the TIS system, then you need to do that first. The error message is seen because the file type used by Ford for TIS is not a file that is recognised by Windows, but with TIS actually installed, it will work as you expect. Quote
Jackv4 Posted June 16, 2010 Author Posted June 16, 2010 ive now tried to install it,(hadnt before i was just trying to run it)but its now saying that its not compatable with the windows im using, im using windows 7, the files are all dated year 2002, is there any way i can get it installed? cheers again Quote

OR if during install there is an option to run in compatability mode, then that's what you want. If that doesn't work, then complication goes up by an order of magnitude if you're not reasonably PC literate. If you know what VMWare is, I'd install a VMWare machine running XP Pro and install TIS on that... Quote

IanD Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 XP Compatability mode has to be downloaded from Microsoft I beleve. Its free to download but it wont install on with Home Pemium, only Professional and Ultmate. I know this because I tried a few months ago Bl***y Microsoft. Hopfully someone with more knolage than me can surgest something else. Maybe VMware. Just noticed you have upgraded to Pro. So you should be ok Not to self. Must read all the post Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 VMWare is not for novices. Sugegst obtaining an old PC for Win XP instead Quote

davew Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 I have a Saab one, it is a sod to get running. There is an extended compatibility mode virtual machine from microsoft but only for Windows 7 Business and Ultimate. I managed to get it running on Windows 7 Home Premium Edition through Microsoft Virtual PC which is a free download. I believe there is also a free windows XP pro image available to run in this. All the info required here XP Compatibility Quote
