jonlewis Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 As the kit delivery is only a couple of weeks away, I have now decided on the final spec. Megabusa No Reverse Nitron Shocks Alloy Uprights Alloy Hubs (CAT) Alloy Diff (Dont Ask !! Not Freelander) Carbon Interior Paneling Hispec Ultralight Brakes Mike Barnby Wheels (Magnesium) Fluke Ackerman Arms Fluke Quickrack Fluke Lightened Rear Disks ETB Digidash or Mychron (Can decide much later) R&D Pedal Box AP Master Cylinder R&D Bias Adjuster ARB's Playskool Carbon Seats TTS Dry Sump And all for £13.50 if you ask my wife !! About the only dissapointment is that Nitron won't sell to me direct even though I am a friend of his and have bought 2 sets off him in the last year for TVR projects. Want to go for wide track fully rosejointed suspension but it looks like it will not be ready early enough. Something to do a bit later. Guess I need to start placing some purchase orders !!. chrisbin Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 So you don't mind the odd compromise here and there....... Quote
Gazza Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 ... apart from not being able to reverse. How many times (with the harness strapped down tight) you need to manoevre backwards by two feet in the circuit paddock/Tesco's carpark? Or do a quick 3-point turn? The realistic answer is 'loads of times'. Could always cut some Flintstone-style holes in the floor Quote
jonlewis Posted November 25, 2002 Author Posted November 25, 2002 Where is the compromise....... Oh S*** I have made a compromise..... Please dont tell anyone !!! I thought I had been quite sensible. There was the option of some three way adjustable F3000 dampers at one point. The farringdon instruments steering wheel had to go too. Quote
jonlewis Posted November 25, 2002 Author Posted November 25, 2002 Will put an electric reverse on later. It is just not likley to be available until after the build is finished. Going with something a bit different for this. Anyway, they will be 6 Point Harnesses Quote
Al Yupright Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 £13.50 eh? Where do you live? I'll call round during the week and offer your wife £20 for it! Sounds v.nice! Do fluke do quick-racks? How much? Cheers, Al. Quote
jonlewis Posted November 25, 2002 Author Posted November 25, 2002 Fluke do, or about to do, quick racks, I am waiting for a price at the moment, they seem very helpful. I am not sure my wife would take £20 for it...... ooh Quote
samcooke Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 Don't playskool do wide track rosejointed front suspension? PS - love the department store Quote
jonlewis Posted November 25, 2002 Author Posted November 25, 2002 When I phoned Playskool they did not seem to want to sell it to me. They suggested I go with bushed Wide Track from Cat. While I can understand their reasoning, I would prefer to have the adjustability and tautness that rose joints provide. I have found the whole subject confusing, Never mind, but I will buy their seats, subject to my lardy frame fitting well enough. With all the interior carbon, the seats will look pretty good I think. Nick M Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 Will this car need to go through the SVA, or is it intended just as a track toy ?? The only reason I ask is that if it's going through the SVA then check on things like fitting an adjustable bias pedal box (or brake bias adjuster) as I'm not sure these are SVA approved. In fact, I'm pretty sure they're not. Also check the harnesses - I think they have to be E marked for road use and I'm not sure most 6 point harnesses are. I'm pretty sure mine isn't but it does have FIA certification on it. Whether that's sufficient for the SVA I don't know but you might want to check. Incidentally, what's the R&D pedal box ? Is it a floor mounted one ? Got any web-site details for example ? Also if it's a track only toy then why bother with any interior trim panels at all ? Just fit the aluminium panels around the tub and gearbox tunnel but don't mess about with cosmetic stuff that just add weight (albeit maybe not much). Quote
jonlewis Posted November 25, 2002 Author Posted November 25, 2002 It will go through SVA, and then have half of it taken off. Agree on the harnesses, although I am hopefull I can find some, otherwise temporary belts will be put in. It will be a track toy in the main, but I do fancy a bit of road play. The pedal box is being produced as a one off. I want an AP type box without the associated expense !!. Yes it is floor mounted. They dont have a web site, but I will get the design for it soon. Simply it is a race box. Bias bar will have a spot weld to make it non adjustable for the duration of SVA. Quote

Any info about it would be useful - it's been something I've been pondering for some time as I'd like to fit floor mounted pedals in order to accommodate a hydraulic clutch (the master cylinder might foul the air filters if I stick with the top mounted pedals). scott beeland Posted November 25, 2002 Posted November 25, 2002 Got mine through sva with willans 6 point 3" harnesses. No bother. Tester was only interested in upper mount points (can't vouch for your local sva centre though) Quote
jonlewis Posted November 25, 2002 Author Posted November 25, 2002 Will let you know. Hydraulic Clutch. Wuss Quote
jonlewis Posted November 25, 2002 Author Posted November 25, 2002 Dont feel you need to use a disclaimer Scott, I would only sue you. Please can you keep a record of your post for possible future litigation Quote
