jak Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Mind you I think this young man must be a nominee for the Darwin awards. Quote
Lurksalot Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 The sad thing is that it is not that unusual . I have done insurance work on 2 garages that were burnt out in a similar manner. when my brother worked for the council he had to tip a full bin lorry into the road as some idiot had put left hot ashes in their bin and the load caught fire . cast iron Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Living in Darlington I saw this on the local news tonight, not nice Quote
wilsonch Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Sorry, but if the thieving gyppo scum hadn’t been steeling in the first place they wouldn't have got hurt.... No sympathy from me I’m afraid Quote
Nic Ayre Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 We had one in Ipswich a month or so ago who actually went the full application of a Darwin Award, by trying to steal live cable from a sub-station. The police are now charging his two accomplices, not from the mains unfortunately. It was surprising how many sympathies there were in the local media, along with a good helping of if he had been a law abiding citizen, he would still be alive. Quote
Norman Verona Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 QUOTE steal live cable from a sub-station. The police are now charging his two accomplices You'd think they wre charged enough... Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 A chap I knew was sent to Lagos on business (he must have upset somebody) and he said that it was common for locals to shin up power poles during the frequent power failures and to steal the cables. Occasionally the power came back on while they were sawing at the copper and it was not unusual for a charred body to drop to the street - people simply walked around it. Quote
Asterix Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 I can beat that, but I'll never tell...not even if you feed me free beer at Curby. Quote
