I watched the end of the race live and was fearing the worst to begin with as they didn't show anything of Conway's car just the other one. He was so lucky it was the bottom of the car hit the fencing.

Hunter-Reay was luck too, there was a shot of Conway's car coming back off the fencing and collecting his on board camera just above his head.

Hell that was a big one.

Is Mike Conway O.K. after that ?

Conway, from Bromley, Kent, drove into the back of Hunter-Reay before flying into the spectator fencing and crashing back down to the track.

The Mail getting it right again!!!, no mention that Hunter-Reay's car ran out of fuel just as Conway lined up to pass

I think hunter-reay was lucky that could have come down on his head and was so close :(

The fans were pretty lucky too, a bit more air and it might have cleared the catch fence.

Did anyone else see the BBC programme on the 1955 Le Mans crash recently?  That was riveting viewing, fascinating and horrifying at the same time, an excellent report.

I saw the Le Mans 55 programme and although it was quite comprehensive in its coverage of the consequences of the crash, I would have preferred to see a little more analysis of the circumstances. Not necessarily in an attempt to apportion blame but to get a better understanding of what actually went wrong - there are, after all, quote a few conflicting theories which didn't even get a mention in the programme.

I saw this and I thought they did in the last 5 minutes.

The archive film showed the paths of the cars and the way the circuit's geometry contributed to the catastrophe. It would have been interesting to have seen some analysis about Hawthorn's supposed decision to enter the pits immediately after overtaking Macklin.

I must admit that some of the detail in the programme possibly passed my by as I swicthed off at the doom-laden tone of the voice over artist they used.
