First off. Recon uprights, are these from the sierra ? if not from which vehicle?

Second, I want to know what the weight difference is between the westfield aluminium uprights and the Sierra iron ones.

Third, the cost difference?

Fourth, disks, vented ? or non vented ? and Drilled if none vented ? Vented are heavier and for the size of this vehicle I can't see why you would want them. Vented don't work too well unless you direct air into them with some force anyway.

fifth, Calipers, recon from what?

Oh all these questions and I havn't even ordered a kit as yet. :xmas:

Front uprights are Cortina mk 3/4/5 jobs and as cast iron you would have thought they weigh a ton. But AFAIK they are only 0.5kg heavier than the factory aluminium versions. There may be slight differences in the geometry, eg you can replace the steering arms on the factory ones with one from Fluke Motorsport which changes your 'ackerman' (spelling?) angle I think. What that really does I don't know but I read it somewhere.

You probably would want the alloy hubs tho' as Cortina ones do weigh a ton. You can get these from the factory or Cat Motorsport.

Cost for Cortina uprights incl. 1 ton hubs ~ £70 from locostspares.co.uk

Cost for factory aluminium uprights ~£280 pair

IMO get some Cortina uprights, blast them, grind a bit off the top and get them powder coated.

Brakes - I think the general consensus is that vented aren't really required as the front disks are so exposed to airflow anyway. You may want to consider drilled versions tho'.

Calipers would be Ford M16 maybe from the Cortina - they do weigh a ton but would be fine to start with.

Thats' about it for what I know. Oh, before Blatman arrives, you could do a search and find plenty of other advice on this subject.

all the best
