Taurus
Hi, Finished reconditioning and reassembling my Mk 2 Escort live axle. The only part I cannot seem to source new is the rubber boot that fits over the handbrake lever mechanism to prevent moisture and s**t from entering. I believe its Ford part number 6023402, I have tried a number of places including a nationwide search of Ford dealers. Anyone help please. Thanks in advance, Peter. Dave Smith
Hi Taurus, My 1999 SEi doesn't have a boot as such, just a flat rectangular piece of rubber with a slot cut in the middle of it for the handbrake lever to go through, which is held in place on top of the transmission tunnel with a metal frame. However, if you're looking for the big rubber boot that goes over a Sierra handbrake lever, I'm pretty sure I've got one knocking about in my garage. I think I've got a spare frame to hold it onto the tunnel as well. If you're interested send me an e-mail and we'll sort something out. Blatman
I think Taurus means the handbrake lever on the rear drums themselves, Dave. I don't recall seeing any of those for a while, but a surf around the Escort rally specialists, or a thumb through Motorsport News, may yield the parts required. Taurus
Sorry Dave my message wasn't very clear. I am talking about the rubber boot that fits over the lever mechanism behind the brake backplate.
