Mark (smokey mow) Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I'm assuming as a CAT C you didn't get a V5 with the car which will make life a little more difficult for you but shouldn't cause too much trouble. If the damage is limited to the paintwork and mechanically etc and the rest of the bodywork is fine then I'd suggest getting along to the DVLA and re-applying for a new V5 for the car which will then make the registration of your westfield on an age plate an easy process. It is also possible to get an age related plate on a Westfield without having a V5... I managed it with my SDV using a photocopy and the green tear off slip, together with a wedge of receipts. If you have a complete car and don't fancy the hastle of reapplying for a V5 then I'd suggest fully documenting and photographing the strip down of your MX5, then when it finally comes to registering your westfield you can prove without doubt to the DVLA that all the parts were sourced from a single donor (thus getting you an age plate) and not the locally scrappy/ebay etc. Word of warning though that the DVLA can be a strange bunch and different local offices vary, so where some (like Ipswich for me) may allow you get an age plate without a V5 you may not be so fortunate elsewhere. SteveD Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 to receive the log book for a cat c ,you will need a vic check ,vehicle identity check . you will need to fill out a vic form which books you in at a local vosa centre for the inspection ,all they do is check its the vehicle that you have repaired is the vehicle you bought and not ringed it ,its not the quality of repair check as most think, once the test is passed they give you a form and certificate to apply for a log book ,if you do receive a log book with the car which some do DONT strip the mazda you will still need to put it through vic . or when you come to register they wont do it because of the log book is not valid because of no vic check ,so just clean off the car and throw some aresol paint on it ,thats all you need to do well not even that much tbh then apply for a vic check ,steve Quote
