dreed
My Westfield is 1.8 Zetec, standard kit from westfield, the only change will be a supported roll bar (not the standard one). I intend entering speed championships, as a road going car. My question is what MSA class does it come under.
Mark Stanton
It will come into whatever class for the championship or event you enter ............ classes are defined by championships and events not by Blue Book which only gives guidance and rules to which clubs must adhere What Championship have you entered ?? What events have you entered ?? Both these will clarify what class you will be in
Mark (smokey mow)
IIRC from the blue book it will be "Road going specialist production". The actual class you enter on the day will depend on the classes for host club as some run a spearate catagory for kit cars. In the speed series with a windscreen and 1A tyres you would be in BD but if you have 1B tyres or aero then that'll put you in F.
dreed
Looking to join championships next year, thought I'd start early preparations. Trying to work out what I need to do to comply with rules and regs, don't want to turn up at my first event to get turned away because I'd not brought, fitted or met scrutineering. Am aware of number of things I need to do (list seems to get longer and longer). Have read MSA, Midland Speed Championship & WSCC Speed Series. I'm one of those that likes to get things spot on before I commit myself and funds.
Mark (smokey mow)
From your post the other day it looks like you'll be going to Curborough, I'm sure some of the speed series regulars would be happy to cast an experienced eye over you car. if you can find me there I'm happy to look but my eyes aren't that experienced yet . It may also help to sign yourself up on the free WSCC sprint school. I did it last year and found it answered many of my questions
peterg
yeah that Dave, tell me if you want a place at the Sprint School, it's free and will answer most if not all of your questions plenty of space available especially for people who marshal for us
dreed
Thanks for the offer Peter. But no catch tank fitted, or time to organise/arrange/fit between now and then. May turn up Saturday watch, bend a few ears, camp overnight, marshal on Sunday.
Mark Stanton
QUOTE But no catch tank fitted, or time to organise/arrange/fit between now and then. You need 4 weeks to fit some rubber tube and a plastic bottle ?? get yer finger out
dreed
No time free, working all week, marshalling all weekends. Exhausted rest of time. Besides I'm a mechanical numpty, no idea which pipes fits where or how, let alone which, what and where to buy. Took me 6 years to build the westie. Can understand now why I keep asking stupid (basic) questions. But I am keen. Dave
Mark Stanton
Then grab some rubber hosing, tie wraps and a bottle get yourself to sprint school and your car can be sorted and show how easy it is to install a catch tank Anymore excuses will be treated in a similar manner
peterg
yeah that, Dave, I have booked you a place on the Sprint School, 10am start on Saturday morning...
dreed
Just back from Curborough, marshalling, too many Caterhams. Nice Nissan GTR though. Thanks Peter for booking me a place. Mark guess what? One litre plastic bottle? what size hose diameter/length. No I'm not kidding, I'm that unmechanical. Dave
peterg
Yeah, a drinks bottle will do, or a 1ltr oil topup bottle, anything really and the hose needs to go onto the cam cover vent pipe so something like heater hose will do, need about a metre or so... whatever happens they'll be enough hands/spares in the paddock to get you sorted
dreed
Thanks again, will raid kitchen, garage, dustbin, see what I can find. Regards Dave
