Repacking an exhaust

Recommended Posts

The packing inside my Techcraft silencer has decided that it no longer wants to be part of the car and is at present escaping at an alarming rate. Can anyone recommend a supplier of replacement material and also what is the best/ easiest method of repacking?

Techcraft also sell the new wadding for re-packing exhausts  ;)  :D  :)  You'll need to simply remove your silencer undo the allen screws at the end, clean out all the ld stuff and re-pack with new, not toooooooooooo tight  ;)  :)

I've also heard of loft insulation stuff being used  ???

I have a Techcraft exhaust, 4 months old and works ok except a little rattly (baffle fit to the body comes loose even though I have tightened it). How long before the packing needs replacing..?

ring Roy Lane at Techcraft for advice but it'll probably need repacking every 2-3 years depending on use - basically wait till it gets a bit noisy and then do it   ;)

Reading this I seem to remember Nick M had an issue with repacking his silencer - something about the coating (?) catching fire.....??

Just thought it might be worth mentioning and apologies for lack of detail.

I will go and use the dreaded search function and see if I can find it!
