Track days/sprints etc

Hi all you die hardened racers out there.

Being new (four months) to Westfields etc I cant wait to have a blat around a track or sprint circuit etc, even might go for WSCC series.

My son (14 yrs old) loves the car and is desperate to be a passenger on a track, he trusts me (bless him)

What are the rules re ages, I have seen on some track web sites that 16 is minimum age

Anyone confirm an event that I could take him on a track?

Thanks in advance  it will make his day (and mine)

I'm gonna be a real killjoy here  :(  :(  sorry.

99.9% of tracks have a minimum age limit of 16 for non-competitive track sessions - and the passenger needs to be a minimum size so as to be fully restrained by the seatbelt.

As for passengers in a fully licensed MSA sprint or hillclimb - then the answer is NO - whatever age or size - passengers are not allowed.  :(  :(

But if he's tall for his age and doesn't behave like a brat you might just pass him off as 16 (they won't ask for a birth certificate)  ;)

But no-one here has said that you should do it or even encourage you to break such rules.

Please read try to read what is not being said before jumping in feet first  ;)  :D  :)  :D  There's a #### of a lot of ambulance chasing solicitors about  :arse:  :D  :arse:  ;)

Elvington is an airfield but it is also used as a circuit and as such similar rules apply.

The track owners and their insurance company tend to set a 16 minimum age limit.

When the WSCC organise a track day we are legally required to provide adequate insurance cover for the event and included within that is an age limit of 16 for passengers.  ;)  :D  :)  :D

So if its a WSCC organised event as earlier this year, the passengers must be at least 16  ;)  :(  ;)  :D

Speak to bookatrack.

I *THINK* I remember them letting young passengers out at lunch time when the track was closed on certain days.

It's worth a phone call...

I have taken a 13 year old lad around three slappers (sisters) at Wigan - with the marshals blessing.

It was a charity doo mind - but you can hire 3 sisters on Friday afternoons for "test" sessions at around £40.00 a time.

Check out www.longton-dmc.com

Absolutely agree with our illustrious chairman about breaking the rules!  There are plenty of cowboys out there ready to jump on the Westfield bashing bandwagon - don't give them the excuse.

Alternatively - to #### with all this - take the little lad for a thrash around your local ring road.  Always good fun going around the round-abouts sideways!

Staffordman

I do take him out (and his mates etc) and give it loads :p

On the road though there is always the need for care as there are no run off areas and lots of trees :0  and lamp posts ???  and on left handers if you run wide and hit an oncomer

I`ve had the odd twitchy sphincter but only on my own.

I`m determined to do research on this as he goes go-karting on his own :D

Thanks for your advice anyway
