Vx to Type 9 clutch

Recommended Posts

All,

I'm ready for the painful task of joining the Vx through the alloy housing ive got (thanks Yukspeed) to the Type 9 box. However, i cant appear to find any information on clutches, flywheels etc.

If you can help me id be dead greatful (leicester talk).

I need to know about flywheel? clutch plate? clutch cover? gaskets? (pretty much anything that joins them all together).

Fitting, names, suppliers, missing parts from the above etc. would be appreciated too (photos always helpful).

Thanks guys.

You have one alloy bellhousing. Do you have the following:

Spigot bearing (to be installed into the VX crank)

Clutch fork (special one available which is a slim line design, Mk2 Escort one can be 'made' to fit, Sierra one is a b***h)

Allen headed bolts for bell housing to engine

Metric fine bolts from bellhousing to gearbox, IIRC the original ones are not long enough.

You will also need a VX clutch cover, a Ford clutch plate, and a Ford thrust bearing.

The clutch fork pillar will knock out of your old bell housing and transfer across.

I have just fitted my VX to the Type 9, and used a standard GTE Clutch Cover and 2.3 Sierra Centre Plate. I purchased all the other parts from SBD.

Hope this helps,

Regards

Richard
