Mike dB Posted October 22, 2002 Posted October 22, 2002 Hi, If I was, say, to be purchasing an seiW for £6k ish should I expect the value of said Westie to stay at a pretty similar value over 1-3 years? I've been looking at the prices & they always seem to be in the £4k+ region that's for the last 5 years, but I wasn't an avid subscriber to watching the prices just IMO really? Anyone? Quote
Blatman Posted October 22, 2002 Posted October 22, 2002 IMO, it's a mistake to consider residual values, especially when buying such a specialist car. The potential market is far too small to be able to make any sort of accurate estimate as to what the market may do in the next few years, and how that will affect values. Buy it, drive it, enjoy it. If you sell it for less than you paid for it, call it "enjoyment depreciation", and think of how much more you would have spent on a Scooby/EVO/M3......... Quote
Bananaman Posted October 22, 2002 Posted October 22, 2002 seiW for £6k ish I think you will be lucky to get a SEiW for this money, however it's the correct time of year to buy! Andy What Blatman says is true especially the enjoy it bit. I've had classic cars befor as second cars & I can say that i have proberly enjoyed my Westy 10x as much as the old alfa, this last year. Good luck Quote
Mike dB Posted October 22, 2002 Author Posted October 22, 2002 It's funny you should mention Impreza's, I might be 'allowed' one of those but I think I'd prefer the Westfield as I won't get a gun in my face & asked for the keys to my car with the Westfield! Hey, Bananaman I thought you were going to call me last week? Quote
brianm Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 Bought my second Westy in July '99-----£7000 Sold it in Sept '00----£7500 Bought it back again in July'01---£5800 Sold it again in Feb '02----£7500 Depreciation--I don't think so. By the way it was a 95 reg Q plate SEIW with VX redtop motor,6k miles initially,45's, swept wings, full chrome- a real looker, all I did was detail improvement. Not only the only car I've made money on but also the only one I've owned twice. Tip, patience and a large wedge of readies, unfortunately and all too commonly, someone inevitably has to sell thier car unexpectedly and bargains will crop up Quote
james grayley Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 i made £1700 profit with my 88 se over two years! Quote
