Nice easy question: I know I need a spigot bearing for my Zetec but having not yet got one, I was wondering what it does.

Thanks.

Its a bearing that sits in the tail of the crankshaft, which the gearbox input shaft slides into, allowing it to be supported from both ends.

Cheers,

Am I right in assuming that Zetecs don't have a spigot bearing as standard then because the Mondeo is front wheel drive & so does not have a long input shaft that needs supporting?

You will need to fit one.

Imade up a tool for tapping this bearing in with do you want to borrow it as using a pin punch will b******* it up.
