engine loom

My zetec was supplied without the engine loom which is still on order.

If I put the engine into the chassis wiil I be able to reach all the relevant connectors to attach/connect the loom....  reason for question is another thread about access to crankshaft position sensor.  If the engine has to come out to replace it, does the same apply to connecting.

The worrying thing is I have not been able to locate said sensor on my engine.

IIRC you can get to the wiring, its just actual replacement of the sensor thats the problem. I doubt if the sensor itself will come with the engine if it has been factory supplied. But there again I could be talking out of my :arse:

Thanks, So if I had a sensor, where would it be and are the connectors part of it.  I 've just spent 10 mins looking at the engine in the vicinity of the flywheel/bellhousing.  Only obvious connector is on the side of the cam cover next to the rail .  Is this it?

Apologies for complete ignorance.. tomorrow I will be buying a Haynes manual to reduce the number of daft questions. ???

Passenger side of the car

The sensor is in an alloy housing about 2" round in a smaller hole in the web casting of the iron block that bolts to the bellhousing the sensor is about 40 mm long and the connector is cranked over and is a two pin male connector about 10mm by 6mm just abouve the sump/block line

Other engine wiring is

H2O sensor

Oil temp if fitted optional put one in the side of the sump at the bottom

Oil pressure remote mount the sendor as the viabration makes them fail

coil pack for ignition

earth strap

starter motor

alternator

Bumbling through all the posts, I looked at your photos (being the nosey type)

On your dash photo you have a diagonal brace/plate under the steering wheel.

Is this something my car is missing? :0 (didnt build it meself)

Does it have a purpose ie; extra bracing for strength

Is it to keep your sarnies dry and within reach on the straights at a track day ;)

Seriously whats it for and is there one on the other side?

All factory "race" chassis' have this brace AFAIK, (and a matching one on the passenger side, as well as one or two other extra tubes). Road chassis don't have them.........it's one thing less to hit your knees/shins on....... :0  :0  :D  :D

You can see the one on the passenger of my car here.....
