Quick_Learner Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 Does anyone have any pictues of their Westfield - PO Box red with grey/black wheels vs silver - im at the stage where i need to decide. Like the thought of grey/black but afraid it will look too "tough" but also afraid that silver will look to "prissy" Thanks all for the pics/thoughts. QL PS Blatman - what offset do i need? Quote
westy Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 there you go one black/dark grey and one silver wheel on a PO red westy Quote
Warren E Smith Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 Am I suffering serious Brain fade today? "Aint Dem Dare" front directionals rotating the wrong way? Or is back to the asylum for me today W Quote
Mike H Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 there you go one black/dark grey and one silver wheel on a PO red westy Hey Westy, Did they forget to tell you the show wasn't in that field? Or is it your back garden? Mike Forgot: Silver wheels Hey is that me in this photo from Moomins site? Quote
Gazza Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 ...unidirectional Bridgestone SO2's Yup, someone told us that the fronts grip better rolling backwards (i.e. under braking). The tread shape is stiffer in this direction - so the theory went. So we tried it at Boscombe down! It felt the same of course, so now they are all the right way around just in case it rains The directionality (is that real word?) is only related to the water-clearing design actually. Quote
Nick M Posted October 23, 2002 Posted October 23, 2002 Well I vote for none of the above - how about gold wheels ?? Re the directionality of tyres, with road tyres like SO2s they are directional because of the tread pattern. There is no advantage to fitting them the wrong way round, especially when it's wet !! Some tyres, however, e.g. ACB10s are directional due to their construction - these tyres do get mounted the *wrong* way round since they are constructed in such a way that they take loads better in one direction than the other.
