Chiefy Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Just done my first track day with my Westie. Brands Hatch, sunny afternoon......fan b****y fantastic! I couldn't beleive how well it went and put a lot of Elises to shame as well as M3's. Then came the problem.....an electrical or fuel issue ment it barely made it round for 3 laps on mt second session. Checked everything, changed the fuel filter and couldn't find a problem. Missed the rest of that session but after that ran faultlessly again all afternoon/evening. Then played up on the drive home. Anyone recomend an auto electrician in the Essex/Cambs area because I've got to get out on some more track days. A real rush, even with the misfire/cutting out issue and felt like this is what the car was ment for. Quote
pistonbroke Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Glad you enjoyed a full on Wessy experience Before you blame the electicery , check and make sure the tank is vented properly, its happened to a few of us Quote
Chiefy Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 Already had that problem, couldn't get the filler cap off due to so much pressure but should be OK now as I placed a vent into the filler neck and cap was fine with no hissing when removed. Might be a faulty battery or battery terminal. The negative post moves abit. Could this be creating a bad earth? Would you recomend a racing battery, say Redtop 20 and is a poor earth a common issue? Thanks Quote
samcooke Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 SparkyB was a Cambs resident and an auto electrician, but the lanky t*t moved to Scotland. Halstead Auto Electrical would be the place I'd go. Quote
Chiefy Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 Thanks Sam, Might give them a call as not far from me. Quote
