Anyone  have ideas on how to pass the noise test. My Pinto engined car on 45's failed (103). It is fitted with the 5 1/2 inch dia. silencer. Westfield suggest welding a baffle in the form of a large washer inside the pipe but that sounds a bit drastic, won't do much for the stainless steel.

Treat yourself to a larger diameter (only slightly) re-packable stainless steel silencer  ;)  :)

What about using"gun-gum" or something similar to stick a washer in temporarily, then dig it out after the test? You could put it in the end of the silencer, and hide it with the curved tailpipe.

I've also had a Pinto engined car tested earlier in the year, the two blokes that did it, had a bit of a whisper to each other, then declared it "fine", I've a feeling it too, was marginally over the limit but they let it go.

:0 Undo your "silencer" clamps, rotate the silencer so it exits towards the ground and tighten up the clamps. The ground acts as a baffle and dramatically reduces the noise. When the bureaucratic fools have finished their testing return your silencer to its original position; preferably while they're watching.

Thanks all.

Any suggestions on repackable silencers - what? where? cost? unforeseen snags (they always seem to be present)?Liam
