Just ordered my MegaBusa Starter Kit. Done it this way because I want to make the car very individual. Any comments welcome on the following things I will be doing.

Wide Track

Anti Roll Bars

Welcome aboard mate!

In front of you is a rather steep hill to climb.... :0

But the trip down the other side is great fun!

Buying the Busa engine isnt a problem as such, its trying to find one for realistic money. You may be best to go somewhere who actually specialize in kit-car packages, it does tend to put the price up a bit more, but you will get everything you need. And dont be tempted to buy one with mounting lug damage on the engine, no matter how much money you will save, as the stress incured on the block etc will of been immense. P.s. if considering a lot of track use, you should really consider a dry sump system, as the bigger bike motors seem quite finicky in this area.

Pushrod suspension. Definately benefits to be had, but the increased complication of the set-up combined with the extra weight of the car as a whole may offset any gains that may be found. I would recommend that perhaps you try it after owning the car for a bit first, for two reasons, a) Westfield would be very reluctant to honour warranty should anything go wrong, and b) if you start with the tried-and-tested route you will have a benchmark to compare it too.

For wide track, try the search facility above, it will give you all the answers (and more) that you need.

Anti-roll bars are a god send to final suspension tweeking, but in the absence of not knowing how 'clued-up' you are, again I would perhaps recommend leaving these off the option list until a later date, and get to know your car first. There will be sooooo much to play with anyway....   :p

Stu says it all.

Forget push rod suspension, if you are going to use it on the track then Dry Sump is a must. The oil pressure is really low on these engines and worries you, till you learn to ignore it.

On the track anti roll bars help, but on the road they make it jump about a bit.

You really need to think about the cost of the engine + dry sump because you are looking at about £ 4.5K, a blade engine is about a grand and does not need a dry sump, But   :) the busa is just a bit quicker.

See you the road next year?

Thanks for the advice. Kit will be here in Mid December. I had always planned to dry sump, it just makes sense to try and protect a £3k asset.

Will definatley want to build with anti roll bars, because my suspension guru tells me I need them. Anybody have any views on who makes the best.

The reason for the Busa engine is simply torque. I am coming from a car with bucketloads of it.

I run my race car without antiroll bars

Hmm, on advise from someone in the know I recently removed both the front and rear anti roll bars from my Cyclone. Result, about 10kg less to drag around and much less skittish at the front, + much more nuetral steering. Maybe ARB's shouldn't be at the top of your shopping list? Brian :0  ;)
