Mike H Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I may be the odd one out here but, whilst I admire the skill involved in applying the stuff etc, I'm afraid I really don't see the point. Mike Quote

Evo,s 7SE Posted April 7, 2010 Author Posted April 7, 2010 i looked at those carbon mirrors but arent they flat glass so as i wanted convex i went for the spa .as for the carbon film i could afford real carbon ones but didnt think they were worth it .the point is i suppose that it tidies things up that you usually cant get in carbon easily .as i have a carbon aero and its not a good a finish as i would have liked the real mcoy is not always the best Quote
Tom Frankland (T3OMF) Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 arent they flat glass...... Yep, but got a great bargain through flebay...... (for once.... ) Plus the mirrors are that big, I can see enough Also, the standard WF mirrors that are on the full screen are also flat, so no difference Quote

Mike I was in your camp until I got may hands on some of this stuff. If you haven't seen it in the flesh then you will think its chavtastic, but..... as Barry Ashcroft, PeteG etc etc will testify its b****y remarkable stuff. Of course, if you can, you will always have 'genuine' carbon, but it certainly has its place, I reckon in 12 months time when the outer resin of most carbon mirrors will be all stonechipped, these will still be pukka. Also, its an easy way of making something tired look fresh for little cost. I have lashings of genuine CF on my car and a fair bit of this stuff too - its difficult to tell the difference unless you look closely (except in my wallet of course ). The other thing which is always in the back of my mind is that you aren't "adding lightness", but from most of the westy drivers I have met (myself wholly included of course) a few less pints and kebabs a month will make far more benefit to my cars power / weigh ratio than adding film / replacing parts with genuine CF ever will. Just my two penneth though!! Quote

That is sooooo true..... Although having shaved literally fractions of an ounce off a carbon fibre bracket tonight I did allow myself two steak sandwiches instead of one, and a bowl of ice cream for desert....and two or three bottles of stella..... So when you weigh (sic) it all up it's far cheaper to use the di-noc film 'cos it means you can't compensate for weight reduction by consuming more food and beer to offset....Hic! This is a phenomenon soon to be known as non-carbon offsetting I'll get me coat, it's the faux kevlar flakjak by the door.... Quote
peterg Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 QUOTE where do you get the carbon film from? send brindle a PM Quote
Guest Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 where do you get the carbon film from? You can buy it in various sizes from carbon Vinyl online service is very good and prices very competitive As i didn't think what brindle was quoting was as cheap as it can be bought .
