Choke linkage on carbs

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Collected my carbs & inlet manifold from Westfield the other week and on closer inspection there is a linkage on top of each carb that moves 'sideways'. I was also sent another cable (along with other parts I actually ordered a few days later) that looks very similar to the throttle cable.

Question is: what do these linkages do? I guessed it might be a choke but can find no reference in the manual...

Secondly, where's a good place to mount the ECU box? The instructions imply it's best to put it inside the car, away from the wet etc. Where do most people put them? I was wondering since I haven't got the engine yet and so do not know where anything is going to fit or whether the cables will reach.

Thanks,

- Dan.

Haxsaw, yes, they sound like the choke levers. Almost nobody bothers with them though, a couple of stabs on the throttle before you turn the engine over and it will spring into life.

As for the ECU, as you say the wiring will dictate where it will finally sit, but there is quite a bit of spare room under the scuttle for such items, which will also protect it from the elements.
