CharlesEH Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 In light of the lack of any clues in the build manual, has anyone got any images showing how this goes together? With my SEW came a bit of steel plate attached to which is something that looks like a rifle bolt. However it has six holes, three at either end that match the gear lever attachment holes on my 'new' 5 speed gearbox. So I assume that this is the device that moves the gearlever back 6" or so. I'm also pretty sure that I need some other bits to make it all work. Can anyone help out? Cheers, Charles Quote
stu999 Posted October 4, 2002 Posted October 4, 2002 The bit with the fork 'hanging down' slips into where the gearstick used to bolt up to on the gearbox. The original gearstick then bolts to the other end of the bracket. The 'rifle bolt' then sends the commands from the stick to the gearbox. That will probably make sense if you know how it works already! If not try some of the build sites on the WSCC 'links section'. HTH Stu. Quote
Andrew Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 If I remember correctly, there's a small reverse detent that has to be knocked out of the gearbox. Can anyone confirm that? Quote
Clive Posted October 7, 2002 Posted October 7, 2002 I beleive you also have to remove the gearbox sealing "bung" in the end of the gearlever extension. The "rifle" then slips inside there in place of the original gearlver and then bolts to the top of the box. clive Quote
CharlesEH Posted October 7, 2002 Author Posted October 7, 2002 Clive, Thanks. This became apparant to me after I spent some time staring at the 'box yesterday! But how do I seal it up again afterward bolting on the extension? Unless I'm mistaken I'll be left with a big hole at the back of the gearbox.... Charles Quote
Clive Posted October 7, 2002 Posted October 7, 2002 That I do not know. unless you can get another one and then make the hole big enough to slide it thru and then a grommett or something to seal as best as possible. westfield may have an answer Clive Quote
