internet providers

Any recomendations for a different provider? I currently use BT but am thinking of changing as they have just hiked the price and now want to limit online time to 150 hrs a month. Now I know that's a lot of hours... But there's a principle involved here.

So what ya using??

NTL

They have been good so far although the E-mail has gone off line a couple of times.

We pay £25 per month and get unlimited free land line phone calls (Local and National) and a Broadband (128K) connection.

It is somewhat of a bargain I reckon.

 I’m NTL (Broad Band) as well, no problems as yet, which is just as well, because their customer service is bl**** awful; you can never, and I mean never, get through to them.  And that's for TV, Internet and telephone.

I currently have a 56k connection with V21 for £9.99 per month (24/7 but limited to 42 hours per week) and it's fine.  They have just announced an offer on Broadband at £19.99 per month (24/7 unlimited, with free connection but you need a new modem for £80).  I'm tempted.

Try Virgin.Net or Beeb.Net either provide a very good service.

I find it best to go and see them!

It is quicker to drive to my local HQ (Leicester) than to wait on the phone for them to pick up.

I much prefer shouting at people in person too! I find I'm much more intimidating in the flesh.

i have always been with MSN, used to have to pay but since they shut down their UK dialup, existing members were given a local rate number to dial up to. no monthly charges, no individual id, pay for what u use. great if u are a night surfer.

looking at BB now cos i'm only getting 32kbps when at uni:(, it runs at a max 56kbps when i'm at home though!

I've been with NTL on dial-up for about two years with no problems and recently switched to the basic broadband service (which is great, much quicker). They're the cheapest too (I pay about £15 p.m. on top of the phone line / cable TV rental charge).

Downside is that if you have to phone them for anything their service is dire, plus it took a week to get broadband set up. But then it's the same with any service these days - you try getting Orange or BT via their bl**** call centres... :sheep:
