Ford capri 1.6 0.8L.  Best and worst, rusted to hell, wouldn't start and got T boned by a BMW.  Slammed in the weeds, on compomotive ML's (minilight replicas) goose s**t green, got a great reaction wherever it went.

Best: my current C320CDi Sport Merc.

Worst: A Talbot Alpine in Orange with brown cloth interior.

Fatbaldbloke: I know what a Sunbeam Stilleto is/was. My father had am Imp Sport. Twin carbs and a top speed of 85 mph. That's downhill with a tail wind!

Apart from the 7.

Best 3*

Lotus Cortina, Alfa Romeo 1300 GT Junior, Lancia Integralle (2)

Worst

Lancia Dedra - it was never 100% right

Range Rover - it had to be recovered 14 times in 12 months

* I've only listed 3 from the hundreds I've "owned". Being in the motor trade I just took what I fancied. If they were good I ran them for as long as I liked them.

Best: 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350, white with twin blue hood-to-trunk (bonnet-to-boot) stripes.  Miss that car bad, right down to the sticker on the dash that said "Warning - Do not roll down windows at speeds over 110 MPH" - at that speed, rolling down the windows was about the last thing you had on your mind!  It was more like, "If I turn, will the bias-ply tires (tyres) do anything except squeal like a pig?"

Worst: Ford Sierra diesel estate (company) - what a mangy mutt of a tractor that was. Someone drove into the back of it and wrote it off, thank goodness.

Worst - rover 400 I had as an interim company car while Mercedes got their a** into gear. It had a huge boot but was complete tinny cra*. Rubbish engine as well. Stuff all below 5000 revs and then only noise above it.

Best - merc c class diesel the first of the common rail. V reg. I loved that car following the gunsight along twisty roads always made me smil

can't say i have a worst car..  none of them have caused me any real hassle to mark them out from the others.

but of the cars i've driven via work - the worst - that made me scream at it - audi a3 1.6 auto. it couldn't decide when it wanted to go, and then once it'd made it's mind up it still couldn't go :-D

Most memorable : original astra GTE : XR3i beater in 1984, remember the thrill of having 185-65-HR14 tyres!

Best on road: BMW325i M Sport auto (although Combined cycle 39.9 mpg according to BMW, but 30 mpg is real avge)

Worst Vx HB Viva (76) - constant maintenance  - water pumps, tappets , rust, exhausts lasted only 12 months before rotting away. Having said that, I think this was the norm for most cars in the 70s. :D

Worst was a Rover SD1 with V8 engine. It was also jolly nearly the best.

Good because it was very comfortable and provided you used the gears (manual box) very quick for a large saloon. Also road holding wasn't bad if you could put up with the vague power steering. Brilliant tow car, again if you used the gears, and ignored 5th.

Worst because the rear suspension bushes were made of plastercine I think. They needed replacing several times a year. And whoever designed the final drive ratio needed to go back to school to learn sums! Its top speed in a straight line was achieved in 3rd gear! If it had had the power to pull max revs in 5th. it would have been doing about 200mph I think!!
