I need to sort out all the lights on my car, But Westfield's light set are about £250. where is the best place to get them from? I've been looking at Stafford Vehicle Components, which look o k for the price.  but what size head lights do i need? 5 1/2" or 7"? What looks best at the back of the car (round lights or square lights)?

Thanks for you help.

The answer to this daft question might prove useful on choosing between 7 inch and 5 1/2 inch lights.

My westie was built by the factory in '96 (i got it 2nd hand after stoneleigh 2001).

the way the nosecone / lights fit mean that i find it impossible to remove the nosecone without removing the lights first.  Do the smaller lights foul the nosecone too?

???

####, forgot to say , mine are the larger ones (but guess that was implied!;)

I have the smaller lights and can remove the nosecone without disturbing them

Bought mine to replace the sealed beam components from Europa Spares near Burton-upon-Trent, I think there's a link from the wscc homepage. They cost about 95 pounds and are the large 7 inch heavy chrone jobs with quad-optic halogen beams - superb and I think they look good

Hope this helps,

Noel

Er.... maybe that comes under "must try harder"   :sheep:

I'll find out tomorrow when I put the car back together, nonetheless, if with smaller lights you don't have to move them, well its a couple of nuts less to be loosened.

I've enough screws loose already without having loose nuts too  :D  :p  :p

well it was just a thought!!

Mine are Cibie Super Oscars and pretty large  :0

FWIW I reckon the bigger lights look better, but, as always, it is a taste thing.

Only other thing is, when its built, how many times will you actually have to remove nose cone.......??

Good Luck !

Er..........the nose cone easily flexes past the headlights (large and small sizes, wide and narow bodied cars), and I've never caused any damage to either of my nose cones, or any of my headlights.  ???  ???

I reckon I have the nose cone off at least once a month on the green car during the summer, and probably as much for the sprint car too.................

Folks,

If you've seen any of my posts before you're going to get sick of me talking lo (ahem) cheep cost but .....

www.lolocost.co.uk do a pair of 7" chrome head lights (http://www.lolocost.co.uk/ASPpages/part_details.asp?PartID=73) quite cheeply.

They also do a discount on a full set of lights i.e. every light needed for SVA (http://www.lolocost.co.uk/ASPpages/part_details.asp?PartID=84).

Now i haven't seen the quality of the other people and i'm sure its not as good as the more expensive lights but its an option. One thing to be aware of with the 7" sealed beam light is that you need to bodge a side light if you want one.

If anyone is near to Nuneaton you're more than welcome to come and have a look at mine in their boxes.

regards,

Mike
