Quick_Learner Posted September 15, 2002 Posted September 15, 2002 I've fitted the fuel pump and the manual doesnt mention where to go now. Ive got some rigid fuel pipe from Westfield but they dont tell me how to connect it to the pump. No doubt its obvious, but i haven't worked it out yet. Also, can i fit the rear suspension and shocks without the fuel pipe ran into the engine bay? And whilst were there, any advice in general on VX with Webbers? Thanks. QL Quote
Blatman Posted September 15, 2002 Posted September 15, 2002 Use some flexible hose to join the fuel pump to the solid pipe. FWIW, I only installed solid pipe to run the length of the tunnel. Where it exits the tunnel at both ends I fitted flexible hose. I don't see why you can't fit the wishbones/rear suspension, but I'm confused as to why you will think fitting them might cause problems running the pipe in to the engine bay What fuel pump do you have? If it's a Facet red or silver top (cylindrical brass looking things) then you MUST fit a fuel pressure regulator. If you don't, you WILL destroy your engine............ any advice in general on VX with Webbers? Like what? Quote
Quick_Learner Posted September 16, 2002 Author Posted September 16, 2002 Sorry, confused myself there!!! I meant fitting the rear suspension without the fuel pipe fitted (just generally). So that makes sense, thanks. Standard pump being fitted. any advice in general on VX with Webbers? Well, i collect the engine on Wednesday from Megavaux and they give me the engine, starter and alternator, thats it. So any suggestions on sourcing other parts and choices will be appreciated. However, no doubt the options and alternatives are endless, but it all helps. Thanks. QL Quote
Blatman Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 SBD for the manifold, and maybe the silencer (depend on how rich you're feeling). SBD will be able to help you out with almost any other Vx engine queries you may have. Also, there is a wealth of information on this site. Use the search function.......... Silencers can also be had from Wunoff (details on the links page) and also Raceco. Click the Cars link on the left of the page........ Standard pump being fitted. Which is what? It could be important............... Quote
Quick_Learner Posted September 17, 2002 Author Posted September 17, 2002 Thanks for the links. The fuel pump is the 'standard' fuel pump issue by Westfield (i recall the box saying Facet pump). QL Quote
Blatman Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 i recall the box saying Facet pump). Is it sqaure or cylindrical? It IS important.......... Quote
Quick_Learner Posted September 17, 2002 Author Posted September 17, 2002 square - whilst you're there, do i need to use the filter that came with it? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 do i need to use the filter that came with i If its a small round plastic type one YES - get a new clean one and ensure its in the feed from the petrol tank to the pump - that way any crap that happens to get into your tank won't knacker your pump etc Quote
Blatman Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 Yup, you must use a filter between the tank and the pump. Check what pressure the fuel pump is rated to deliver. Any more than 2.5 to 3 psi, and you WILL need a pressure regulator. Quote
