As you can see from my previous thread, i have converted my Westfield to a 4 point harness seat belt.

Its a narrow body, so now i have to modify the lid on the top.

I also have this horrible and completely boshed boot box. Which im not fitting in a million years   :bangshead:

Do away with the bootbox idea and just flat-panel the rear aperture?

Thats what it has now. But i need to modify it or make a new one. As i have changed the positions of the seat belt anchors.

I was thinking boot box to have somewhere to put things  :)

I have to say, thats it fairly b****y shocking.

- That said, having really missed my bootbox since the roll bar went in, and having not got around to sorting a neat job on modding mine to refit, i can see how it would get to the point of anything being better than nothing.

I bearly use the car for going anywhere, but even so, have had to pile bags onto passengers more than enough times to be a little embarrassing.

Particularly one time i picked up my sisters friend from the station in it and she had a huge rammed suitcase. I had to get here to get into the car and then lower it onto her! She was only coming for te ruddy weekend, i assumed she would have a small/softish bag.

I couldn't cope without a boot for long, this is my attempt. It's not as big as the standard boot box, but it's enough room for clothes for camping (tent straps to roll bar), it's lockable and I think looks the part ... :

All made from sheet aluminum - quite thin, with some ribs running underneath to stiffen it. Piano hinged lid, yale cabinet lock in the centre and two mini bonnet pins at the edges (prevents the lid being forced up if it's stuffed full) with rubber seals so it is waterproof (well, splash proof at least). The inner box is made from thin alu 5-bar tread plate and has an inspection hatch through to the diff and fuel pump and level sender. Where possible the box is formed from a folded 'net', and either welded or rivetted to 90deg angle strips. The relatively thin aluminium was later covered with sound deadening (like the hifi stuff) to stop it 'drumming'.

Yup, no boot on my car. The piccy shows it on the return leg of my Le Mans trip in '07. Luggage for two blokes for 7 days. There's a tent, a cooker, a table, two chairs, clothes, tools and all the necessary extras. Boot box? Pah :D
