Liam Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 My son is hanging his nose over one or the other of these. It will not be by any means new - probably in the £3000-£3500 bracket . Does anyone have any experience of either of these vehicles. Good , bad or indifferent. Quote
JeffC Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 L200 is bomb proof. bob the Log has had a succession of them and if he cant break them they must be good Quote
KerryS Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Navarra is far too close to Renault technology for its own good...... Quote
dombanks Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 If you want a bit more comfort the poeple i know who have had both say the navaro is better and has a bit more poke. L200 is built like brick S**t houses and a great work horse Quote

Mark (smokey mow) Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Check out knackerednavara.com. D22 engine explodes at approx 80k. I second that. I know of a couple of my builders who have run navara's and had engines go after only 2-3 years of abuse Quote

RichP Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Navarra is far too close to Renault technology for its own good...... Can't immediately think of much that's Renault in an old Navara. Depends what you want to do with it. You'll find plenty that have been bought as "recreational vehicles" that have never seen a building site or been off road that will give you no problems. If you buy an ex builders truck you'll take a risk with whatever you buy. I might be getting my codes mixed up, but I also don't think the D22 engine went into a Navara - it's a YD25. Cast Iron might be able to confirm. Quote
Darrell O'Neill Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 STay away from the Navara, Ive seen far too many now with a Rod hanging out the side of the block Quote

Quite prepared to accept I am wrong on this, it's just that someone on another forum I frequent had best part of 2 years problems with the vehicle including the engine which I thought I had remembered being Renault. It was a lease car and in the end got out of the lease contract as it had spent more time at the Nissan dealer than he'd had it. Also, I know someone who runs a few pick-up type vehicles for business use and the Nissan has been worst of the lot, Ford Ranger has been best. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I think a lot of the engines blowing up was done to a sump that was too small. When the vehicle was driven off road the oil splashed around the sides of the sump and not in the engine its self. Thus the engine had a habit of sticking a leg out of bed. I have an L200 06 plate and so far have had no real problems with it had mine for almost two years now and would have another. Quote
V 8 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I've had a D40 Navara for nearly 2 years. Like driving a Range Rover, great vehicle Edited to add:- My decision was based on power, torque and towing/payload capability, of which the Navara was the best in all Quote
