Do NOT tighten the nyloc nuts...

Lame question time:

Putting the wishbones & shocks on the manual keeps saying NOT to tighten the nyloc nuts at this stage - 'nip' them only. Does it mean simply put the nut on as far as the nyloc bit (about 2 turns! ) or do the nut all the way up but not actually tighten it?

I assume the latter (but have done the former just in case) because otherwise everything will be very loose and I'd rather not let the car support its own weight without doing the nuts up.

Cheers,

- Dan

Anyone go to Castlecoombe yesterday? Saw a few Westies around (though no one was there to talk to) and did I see Blatman's green car: how many with black wheels & exhaust can there be?

I guess it means not to fully tighten or torque them up.

you will have difficulty moving the wishbones up/down when the bolts are tight. making it hard to get the uprights and shocks on etc.

Read the manual to the finish it tells you in the set up bit to set everything up and torque tighten them then.

What I did was put the nut on until it was on and just into the nylon bit.

If you do everything up tight when the suspension is on full extension all you will do is wind the bush up when the car is on its wheels fully kitted. You will find the bushes will not last. Tighten the bolts just enough to stop them coming undone then when the car is on the ground with all the heavy bits fitted you can tighten everything  ;)

Second Matts advice. Just nip 'em up until the car is "full", then torque up "properly".

It was me at Castle Combe...........I guess you wandered past while I was wandering around. Typical...........
