lippydave Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 He may be a Jock and it may well be a girls sport, but on the positive side he's a Wolves fan and showing some proper grit.... How much kudos can be attached to beating the Swiss at anything anyway? Quote

lippydave Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Yay Federer Murray - always a Scot ........... do a search and see his comments for his support of English teams Don't believe everything you read in "The Sun".... Try thisNot-anti-English I really dislike anti_English sentiment from the Jocks, Welsh and Irish, I don't mind their own patriotism but I don't think much to the English haters..... However if you look a bit deeper you'll find Murray isn't one of 'em.... He also appears to have a fair degree of magnanimity as well as determination, good luck to him....from a fervently patriotic Englishman and Briton... Quote
kermit The Frog Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 QUOTE Murray explained that his comments were said in jest during a light-hearted interview with sports columnist Des Kelly,[68] who asked him if he would be supporting Scotland in the World Cup, in the knowledge that Scotland had failed to qualify for the tournament.[69] Kelly stated another tabloid had later "lifted a couple of them [comments] into a 'story' that took on a life of its own and from there the truth was lost" and that he despaired over the "nonsensical criticism".[70] Murray protested that he is "not anti-English and never was"[64] and he expressed disappointment over England's subsequent elimination by Portugal.[71] In an interview with Nicky Campbell on BBC Radio 5 Live, Tim Henman confirmed that the remarks had been made in jest and were only in response to Murray being teased by Kelly[68] and Henman.[72] He also stated that the rumour that Murray had worn a Paraguay shirt was untrue.[72] It does make good banter between us and the sweaty`s though Quote
