DANDAN Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Could anybody recommend a company or enthusiast that would convert a Westfield from a Megabird engine with sequential gearbox to a standard car type engine with conventional gearbox. OR Would I be better off selling the car as it is and buying another with car engine already fitted. Any suggestions and help much appreciated. Danny. Quote
Blatman Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Sell your car and buy what you want. May take longer, but it'll be cheaper to get what you want this way, trust me Quote
Jenko Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 As Blatman says....The general consensus on this conversion is it's simply cheaper to sell the car and buy a different one....Mostly to do with the shear amount of the components that require changing...Almost nothing can be carried over from the engine, plus some re welding, new prop (possibly diff if you have <3.6)..... Of course it's a different matter if you actually fancy the challenge of doing it.... :-) I know that for what I've spent on my car over the last 4 years, I could have sold it and bought a better spec!. That said, it's been ( and still is), and interesting learning experience. Quote
DreamingNeonBlack Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Try to find one with the engine you want already fitted. You'll save a lot of time 6 money. Quote
Paul Aspden Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Wow, someone with sense! Sell the Becs and buy the car you want, you wouldn't believe the cost of a conversiion, especially as it will involve replaceing the chassis!! (Unless you talk to Mr Pickles) Quote
stewart pickles Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 it's easy to convert a car chassis to bike power but going from bike to car chassis is another matter, and besides a blackbird engined car in good condition would be around the 10k mark where a good cec would start at 7k. so with the funds from selling the bec you should be able to get a very good cec Quote
