a4gom Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 eldest lad keeps asking if he can download imesh to download music, p.c.'s are all protected so he can't do it without me putting password in anyways "download music" sounds illegal, napster, p2p etc to me but i've looked at it and it says its 100% legal Anyone use it, have experience of it? I'd appreciate a heads up on the legality of it, all his mates have it you know! Quote
Emma Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 We used to use Imesh many moons ago (i'm talking probs 10 years) - it was the main "music sharing" site - that and napster. However it is my understanding that they clamped down, and pretty much every site where "popular" music can be found, you need to pay. We stick to Amazon nowadays and pay up..... The only free music sites i found tend to contain music by artists starting out / trying to get their stuff heard. However, i'm sure someone will be along to correct me shortly.... Quote
carpetstu Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Simples - you aint paid for it so you dont own the rights to play it! Quote
a4gom Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 well we haven't downloaded the program yet so I can't say for sure but reading the bumf on their site it implies that you will have to pay for anything which has copyright on it? Quote
dombanks Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 i use napster but i pay a monthly subscription fee. its basically like a big library. i have unlimited downloads to up to 3 separate PC's. so my laptop, swmbo's work pc and one spare at the mo have the program on. if i was to pay a little more i could also have the abilty to move songs onto a mp3 player. the files come in as an encripted windows media file. i can play them when not connected to the internet but only for about a month then i have to connect to napster again and all is fine. this 100% legal and legit. i dont know about imesh but naptser is fine.
