chrisbin Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 When driving with the sidescreens off and the air deflectors on, the loose ends of the shoulder straps keep flying up and hitting me Other than tucking them behind the strap (and they come back out), any suggestions as to how to control them..? Only idea I had was to use some velcro but b4 I try it I wondered if anyone else has come up with a solution? So, anyone out there good with harnesses/straps... Quote
peterg Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 you could try loops of elastic (preferably in matching colour) Quote
chrisbin Posted July 19, 2002 Author Posted July 19, 2002 Thanks Pete...... Do Armani do any....?? Quote
peterg Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 Don't think so but I believe Gucci do a set but only in Willans blue Quote
chrisbin Posted July 19, 2002 Author Posted July 19, 2002 ####! My harnesses are Willans Red..... Ho hum, I guess I didn't really expect any serious answers... Quote
david.c Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 I've got those padded bits that fix around the belt straps in the shoulder area, so I tuck the loose ends in there. Only on drivers side though so my passengers still get a whipping Cheers David Quote
SteveF Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 Even worse than being slapped in the face by the straps is getting joggers nipple from the straps vibrating when they are a bit loose oo..err.. mrs Quote
hilux Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 I must be a bit of a girl but it is so much more comfortable with the sidescreens on It really is hard work without them and I find a crash helmet is the biz as you are not picking horse s**t and flies out of your teeth. Shall I go away now........... Hilux Quote
catflap Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 I enjoy the slaps, then again i do imagine im the play toy of Mrs whiplash Quote
Paul M Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 Plastic bulldog clips from Stationery box, available in assorted sizes and colours, under a pound for a pair and work a treat, easy to store on the harness when not in use. I also tried miniature spring clamps from a market tool stall, 6 for £1.00, effective but not as discrete as the bulldog clips. Quote
westy Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 as david c. said get the velcro pads that attach on you can stuff your bits down there then Quote
ABolton Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Tried velcro - didn't work very well. Now have cable tie fairly loosely attached around. Can still tighten/loosen the end, but just push the cable tie up to the foldover/stitch point on the harness end, and it stops all the slapping. Andrew Quote
Blatman Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 You mis-understand. Velcro (harness) pads are made from padded polyester, about 12" long, and fit over the harnesses to protect your shoulders. You can tuck flapping harness ends into them too...........Halford sell 'em, believe it or not. Have a look in the Ripspeed section........... Quote
chrisbin Posted July 22, 2002 Author Posted July 22, 2002 Thanks for the contributions. Harness pads look like the way to go..... Just have to make sure they are colour coded...... Cheers Quote
mmmmdonuts Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Ihad exactly this problem at the weekend. I just tied the spare in a knot. Quote
