Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Well the time has come to let the westy go - I have had a great time with this machine and have enjoyed being part of the WSCC - I may become an owner again Westfield Sport 2000 - Duratec - SEIW The car was part built by Westfield and went on display at Bristol airport as a display car - minus engine and other gubbins - The car was then purchased by a chap in St Helens (June 2006) who I believe decided not to start the completion - a chap from Tewkesbury then purchased the car (not sure when) and used all new parts to register and finished as an 08 plate SVA'd in Feb 2008 I have the build manual for some reason this is for an 1800 and an engine supplement for a Sport 2000 – I assume the original owner intended to fit a 1.8 and then changed his mind - I have all receipts from Westfield inc the brand new duratec engine – plus all the SVA stuff – and loads of other bumf – I also have receipts for the suspension geo set-up at the westfield factory Webcon/Alpha engine management Standard diff - 3.92:1 Type 9 box std with quick shift Raceline sump Alloy hubs all round with standard callipers White instruments with aluminium bezels Lowered floor - very handy if you are a lanky man like me, and even handier if you are long in the body - my head sits well below the roll bar and I am 6 foot 2" I had the car dyno'd at Stoneleigh 2009 and the car made 173BHP on their rollers Since buying the car I have fitted a number of upgrades from various places Superb second-hand compomotive CXR wheels - very light - (from memory 6.5 on rear and 6 on front) Yoko A048's tyres super grippy 205 rear, 185 front - I think I have done about 2-3k on these tyres (one track evening) so have plenty left in them Westfield stone guards RAC roll bar rose jointed High level LED rear brake light fitted to roll bar 3" Willans 4 point harness second-hand - TBH I find these a pain in the a** as they don't adjust too easy Carbon mods aero screen - another second-hand bargain Carbon look rear westfield lights GSXR copy side mirrors in carbon fibre look Some westfield padded seats with yellow edging to match in with the rest of the car from a fellow club member Racetech centre rear view mirror What is not fitted but may be available within the price subject to negotiation I also have - un-fitted and brand new racetech quick release steering wheel hub and a new suede finish D shape steering wheel - and brand new Carbon fibre mickmade half doors again not fitted - small type front LED indicators not fitted - and round type carbon fibre look rear fog and reverse lights - these items could be included if price remains as advertised (£400 plus worth of extras) The car has had one oil/filter change by me and if I was going to keep it I would be doing another one before the seasons kicks off next year The car has Tax left on it The car had about 800 miles on it when purchased and I have now done about 6k in total On the road the car feels fantastic, very quick and bags of torque too, the gears are nicely spaced although 1st is rather short - and gets even better on the track - I have only done one track evening with the car but found it incredibly easy to drive fast, brake too late into a corner the car breaks into a controllable four wheel drift and allows you to scrub off the excess and out of the corners power can be applied and the back end pops out in a very controllable manner if you should be the sort :-), and if you keep your foot on the gas the car eventually just straightens itself out (surprised I was able to do this so easily with a standard diff) – despite going flat out in an amateur sort of fashion the car was so balanced I didn't spin it once Down sides of the car The car has hesitation when on part throttle - the car starts first time, ticks over superbly and goes like stink under decent throttle openings (like I say it just has a hesitation under part throttle, I assume an engine sensor or maybe a remap - I have been on about getting the car booked into NMS to get it rolling roaded and mapped but just aint had the time A very slight oil weep from the diff – so minor I have never bothered to get it done – I have checked the oil on 3 occasions and each time it has been ok The car has two holes either side where the screen was - I have just not got around to putting a sticker over or gel coat repairing - the buyer can decide on what they wish to do Usual story on the front cycle wings - both cracked in usual places - I do have a set of second-hand carbon mods ones lined up which I have not picked up yet (Lee I will make a point of getting over to you) - the buyer can have these and would look superb with all the other bits n pieces already on the car There is a small scratch (a dremel incident – I have pointed this out in the video) on the edge of the boot box - I left this as I had intended on putting a Carbon fibre shelf on the rear Other than that it is a car to be immensely proud of and looks fantastic on the road Any inspection and trial welcome - get a dry day and I am more than happy to take you for as long a spin as you feel necessary The video below was taken today (15/12/09) – the car is at work at the moment in Peterborough and can be viewed at pretty much any time Drop me a PM or post a message up on here if you are interested I nearly put “happy bidding” but that is ebay aint it :-)
Bobby Breeze Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Having been out on a decent blat following Cleggy this Summer I know this car is fast and handles really well. Top condition too. Good luck with the sale. Dave.
stephenh Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Cleggy, NOOOOOO! Looks really smart, good luck with the sale. If the buyer doesn't take the carbon half doors, can I have first dibs?
Mark Stanton Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Good Luck with your sale Thread locked - for benefit of WSCC and allow some courtesy
