I recently bought a westfield which has top mounted pedals - however i am 6'3" tall and it is a little uncomfortable - there seems to be a lot of room behind the pedals - is there anyway i could fit floor mounted pedals or pedal box to make more room - thanks.

Hi craigh

My car has floor mounted pedals as the previous driver was 6'3"/6'4". I am 6'1" and have plenty of room. :t-up:

I don't know where this conversion was done, you could try asking the factory or Terry Nightingale. Click here or try the links page.

Good luck

Craig, what actually is the problem with the layout, Is it knees under chin, knees locking hands/steering wheel? My specific problem was similar to what I perceive yours to be, ( I'm 6'3") inthat there appeared to be loads of space behind the peds but when I bent /adjusted them to gain max space legroom, gear change/pedal bottoming became a problem. Eventually I lifted the steering column by1" and moved it leftwards 1.5". Problem solved. Brian.

I know this might be a silly question, but how did you move the steering column?  Is it a matter of sawing through the weld at the top of the column surround and getting someone to weld it on higher up?

Yes, more or less. You need to grind of the existing welds to the top bearing. You will then find that there is a lot of possible movement at the top of the column with very little effort. I simply welded 2 pieces of 5 x 30 mild steel plate with two drilled bolt holes to the bearing and the cross dash chassis member, but offset to the left by said amount. It was then a case of positioning a spacer between the two to give the desired "lift" to the wheel. The universals in the column are more than capable of taking up this slight detour. One of the best mods I ever carried out on my car. Thinking back it was only about 1" lateral movement but it made all the difference. Size matters as they say. Brian.
