Westfeild race seats - question for owners

I was thinking of buying a pair of Westfield race seats  for my Elise. looking at them the shoulder harness slots seem to be very close together.

This may seem like a silly question, but do the harnesses rub on your neck with these seats, or are they in any way uncomfortable because of the closeness of the shoulder harness slots?

Never had a problem with mine rubbing anywhere they shouldn't :0

Long time no see, BTW :)

I've never had any issues, well with the belts rubbing but as for the rest of the things in my life...how long have you got??

I find them fine in my narrow car, the only thing I do find uncomfortable are the shoulder supports, but thats because I am a short  :arse:  5'6" dripping wet  :p  :p  :p

OK, cheers. I didn't think they would be a problem, as so many people have those seats. I've always loved the look of them, and they are so much cheaper than anything that is custom designed for the Elise. But the standard seats have to go as I am race preping the car for entry into next year's Elise Trophy series. I will soon be very, very poor!

Blatman: I keep meaning to come along to one of the Thames Valley meets. If it is not pi**ing down again next Sunday, I'll come along and see if there is anyone still going I know.

Yes, I found they did rub me. It was only a problem when wearing a t-shirt in summer, then I would get to two abrasion marks on my neck for a day or so.

Also found the shoulder 'wings' a bit uncomfortable, they force you into a straight arms position and would dig into the back of my shoulders giving me bruises - I'm hardly broad shouldered, in fact, those seats were too wide for me, I rattled around in them, I'm more of a "racing snake" (good for power to weight though).

Edited to add, I had the un-padded versions and used 3" belts.

Perhaps they are ok for 2" straps but not 3". Problem is I have 3" harnesses.

I also had 2" but changed to 3" for the speed series about 4 years ago. I do however use sheepskin covers on the shoulder straps for comfort, as I tend to compete with the belts as tight as I can possibly get them.

I seem to work most Sundays these days. I'm sure there will be one or two recognisable faces though...

b****r. the seats I was going to buy have sold (second hand ones on ebay). I'm now thinking of JK composites who do seats specifically for the Elise, so no faffing around with brackets. And the harness holes are very wide, so no worries about rubbing on neck. Anyway, thanks for the replies. :t-up:
