selling whats left of a doner car chassis

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!!

I am wanting to get rid of what i have left over from my MX5, now i want to get rid of the chassis complete as i cannot be dealing with the hassle of breaking up body parts plus the shell is in a great condition, (it was a shame to break it in the first place, but i believe in rincarnation  :D )

Now the question is, i need the V5 from the donor car to use in conjunction with registering my Westie, but what happens to this after i have used it, and do i still get to keep it so i am able to sell on the chassis with it?

any one to help / shed light would be very helpful :)

You should be able to scrap the shell without surrendering the V5, but I reccomend removing all the vin plates etc to help with getting the westfield registered.

My MX5 was a pallet donor from MX5heaven so the shell was already scrapped by the time i got the bits and the V5 but i know Dean McQuade (deaneccose) has gone through this process recently with his donor so may be able to offer some help.  I think he even made some resonable money back on the unwanted parts by selling the shell to an mx5 spares company :).

Edit to add: even after you've scrapped the shell don't forget to keep declaring the donor as SORN'd as in the eye's of the DVLA if you have a v5 and registration then you still have a car :D so they'll be after you for the road tax!

Is there any damage to the shell?

How much do you want for it if I was to come and collect it - No V5 Required by me!

I'll definately take the front and rear bumper  and wings if they are in good condition.

the shell is in very good condition, was imported 2 years ago and has never seen any salt on the roads, so its very clean underneath, all the body work is again clean and tidy.

i was asking for £250 for the shell as it is, that includes lots and lots of parts.

here is what is missing:

Engine

Gbox

wiring loom

hubs

brakes

diff

prop

drive shafts

roof

door cards

wheels

shocks

steering column

still remains

all panels

glass

dash

seats

carpets

lights

bumpers

electric window motors

heaters

air con system

pas system

etc etc

Picked the shell up and met 'Tig Brother'. Their Westy is a lot more advanced than in their avatar and is looking superb, the quality of the build is exceptional and is a real credit to their efforts.

Nice meeting you and we're very pleased with the Mazda Shell -it's awesome  :t-up:

Someone will buy this shell as Smokey says advertise it in the MX5 club. Is the MX5 race series still going??? if so I'm sure someone will buy it there especially at that crazy price/Condition
