7sRWild Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Hi guys. I am in the process of bringing a Westfield into Canada, it has to be 15 years old to be allowed in. I have a choice of a ZEi or SEi. I realize that the Z has a larger engine. Any views on this would be appreciated. This will be my first Westie. Thanks. Steve Quote
Bob Green Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hi Steve I have a ZEiW but it only has a 2 litre engine. I think the ZEiW was destined to have Zetec engines. There are small body differences to an SEi such as the nose cone is blended to the main tub. I don't know of any other. Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I had a ZEi220 with the Cosworth Turbo engine These cars had European Type Approval so may help you to import. Main difference was the front tub was more enclosed around the wishbones and the front wings had backing too. Mine had an underneath exhaust also which may have been a requirement Quote
chris7273 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 The ZEI had European type approval. It had swept wings with a special design to be approved. The ZEI was available with a Zetec 1800 or a Cosworth engine. But there are strange things ;-) my zei was factory built end of 1997 but with cycle wings. The bodywork is also quite standard with a SEIW. Maybe it was fully rebodied once. The chassis number begins with SA9WZEI... Here in Belgium, it makes no difference if it's a ZEI or SEI, it is always a special registration process. Hope this helps Quote
Bob Green Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 My ZEI had cycle wings. So has mine. Quote
chris7273 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Suggestion : Did your ZEI's came with a datasheet describing all the components (reference and E marking) used for the car and the evidence that the car was factory built (no kit) ? If yes, they will worth a fortune in France since this datas will ease the registration process. My ZEI is a strange car, based on my chassis number, Westfield issued a certificate of origin for a Westfield SEIW ;-) with a power of 130bhp when the power filled on the handbook is 115 bhp... I decided not to use this paper for the registration since it would have lead to more question than expected. ;-) Quote
7sRWild Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Hi Bob Thanks for the response, the ZEi I am looking at is in Japan, its got a 1.8 EFI, full leather interior. Full swept wings, the headlamps and indicators are built into the wings. 1994. He is asking around 7,500 pounds. Its got full weather gear etc. Steve Quote
