Just come back from a business long haul and had to get from Heathrow to Leicester

after various discussion the best option was a hire car

So i trawled the net and found 1st-ukcarrentals.com

I entered my pick up and drop off requirements and up came a list of possible cars and the prices against my pick up (Heathrow) and Drop off (Leicester)locations.

I picked the car with the price £32.00, the deal was from there that i pay £5.00 deposit and the balance when I collect I accepted and paid up- so all hunky dory

The actual car was through europcar and sure enough when I arrived my reservation was in palce and the car was as requested, however the cost was £68.00

Hidden in trhe small print was an extra cost of £36.00 (thats more than the car hire) for a 1 way journey even though i had clearly stated the journey and according to the WEB page the cost against my one way journey was £32.00. I have tried to getr them to explain and refund and basically they have  refussed to communicate any further on the matter. I dont think I stand much chance of gaining by trying to fight for £36.00. but to everyone out there my recomendation is never use them

sounds like a rip off when they dont declare the actual costs in the initial quotation

Theres a few of these shisters out there. I always book direct with the hire car companies which may appear more expensive, but rarely is.

Auto Europe are a quality car hire consolidator with great customer service and clear terms - generally by far the cheapest, never had a problem with them and I do hire a few cars abroad for work.  Argus Rentals not such good customer service but the only ones I have found who can sometimes beat Auto Europe on price.
