RichP Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Hi all I've been offered an Archos 5 Media player which I'd use to record from a bullet cam in the Westy. Does anyone have any experience of these, good or bad? I'm a bit concerned about the hard drive not coping with a harsh environment. Thanks Rich Quote
RichP Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 Having read a few internet reviews I think I've answered my own question and will steer clear. Quote
Johnson Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Would recommend looking at the DogCam website I have the DVR 1 which has now been superseded by the DVR 2. A work colleague has the DVR 2 and is just as impressed as I am. Very good support too should you need it. Quote
FW500 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I use an Archos 7 100GB on my westy. The recording quality is superb but when driving hard you get the occasional skip which is a bit annoying especially as it's the off's and little incidents that make the footage interesting to watch back. Personally I think the DVR's bundled in these kits are well overpriced and I'll always go down the dedicated media DVR route - but instead of using the HDD model I'll get a smaller solid state model. i_am_ed Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I've just got a Roadhawk RH-1, which records G-forces and GPS location/speed as well as video. It needs a power cable rigged up though, no internal battery. I've not taken it out in the Westie yet, I'll let you know how I get on. If you're interested, the manufacturers website has a video when a car was at a garage for maintenance... a mechanic took the car for a 120mph run down the dual carriage way! Lest I be accused of advertising you'll have to find the website yourself ;-) Quote
steveyoung66 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 The roadhawk looks impressive at just 199.be interested to know your thoughts once you have tried it out. Quote
