Nissan GTR front bumper 'ding'....

It's been suggested that the most effective safety system would be a steel spike sticking out of the steering wheel at your chest.

I think you may have solved the entire F1 safety / overtaking / regulation interferance problems in one hit.

The FIA just need to draw a rectangle on the ground and let the teams design whatever car they like inside it. Have as many turbos or diffusers as you like but the driver has to have one of these spikes poking him in the chest.

Well it doesn't surprise me.. what do they cost? around £60k i think i saw one for the other day, so thats around 1/6th of its total cost.

Now if Mr average was to have a small prang in his 04 plate vectra which was worth say £4000 (theoretical of course ive not checked vectra prices and we all know there not worth the price of a bus ride home (please no Vectra comments :) )) would we be up in arms over £666???

If you buy an expensive car be ready for expensive costs when you prang it  :bangshead:  :bangshead:

But looking at the extent of the damage on the bumper............I don't think the spike would even have pierced his t-shirt  :0  :0  :0  :0
