mattstead
Hi there, I recently got an email from a young chap asking wether I would be interested in hiring out my car to him for the evening - he is attending a Ball at a high quality hotel in Manchester and wishes to make the right impression. The email is below: I wonder whether you would be interested in a one off hire service using this car. I am looking for something special to go to a ball on the 7th of June, returning on the 8th. I would obviously be able to pay for the hire of the vehicle, fully comprehensive insurance and any petrol costs. The ball is being held at a respectable hotel in Manchester and so I will be able to guarantee the safety of the car. In addition, I will be able to prove my reliability with whatever documents or information is required. I can leave my passport and driving licence as a deposit for example. I live in Burton On Trent, around 10-15 miles from Derby so the transaction will be easy and you will be able to know exactly where I live. I am having to look for private hire opportunities as I am below the minimum age of 25, that most car hire companies insist on. This is despite the fact of an almost flawless driving test, a driving licence without points and having been in no accidents at all. I cannot help this guy out as I have sold my car If anyone is brave / generous enough to help him out and want to make a few quid then his email is: tom_barratt@yahoo.co.uk I feel sorry for the guy because, being only 27 myself I can remember wanting to hire sportscars but not being old enough, and having to arrive at a ball in my Metro Turbo Don't laugh, it was good. ricdiggle
I had an almost flawless driving test, I have no points and had had no accidents. I've since crashed mine at least once and spun it countless times. He'd have to pay me a lot for the hire!
Captain Colonial
I've since crashed mine at least once... At least once? Can't you remember if there's been others, or is the Alzheimer's kicking in?
ricdiggle
Sorry, I can't remember what we were talking about Captain. I have crashed it one and a half times in total.
Sooty
If you don’t fancy letting him drive, then you could offer to chauffeur him. As it’s a ball he was no doubt going to try to impress a young lady. As much as I’m sure you would hate to do this, you would have to pick her up too, and do all the impressing for him. Just remember that the fuel tanks are only small, I’d hate for the two of you to get stranded on the middle of nowhere
