SEIW Wheelbase

Can anyone shed some light on the wheelbase of a 2000 SEiW?

The only figure I found was 3225mm.

Figure for an SEi was 2335mm

Is that correct? Do the Widebody cars have nearly a 1 metre longer wheelbase than the SEi?

Sorry for the noob question, just trying to figure out if one will go down our driveway!

I find it hard to believe that the wheelbase is as little as 2335mm on any Westfield. The wheels are very much at the 4 corners, and the car overall is IMSMC about 3600 or 3700mm (thereabouts) and I thought a narrow body was similar in length to a wide body, so I think the shorter figure you quote must be a misprint.

Approximate dimensions of my SEIW Mazda SDV are:

Width (Front) over wheels/tyres  - 1480mm

Track (Front)                             - 1290mm

Width (Rear) over wheels/tyres   - 1620mm

Track (Rear)                              - 1430mm

Maximum Width over body          - 1640mm

Wheelbase                                - 2325mm

Overall Length                           - 3450mm

Minimum Ground clearance          - 70mm

Interesting, has anyone actually measured the wheelbase of a widebody?

If the figures quoted for the Mazda sdv are correct then somethings not right somewhere?

Wheelbase and dimensions of a widebody should be within a few mm the same as the Mazda kit (which were measured off my own car).

EDIT to say: curiousity has just got the better of me so I've been out to the garage for another measure and 2325mm is definately correct for my car. :t-up:

I would think that too, but this is the only official looking document I've seen and it states the longer wb?

Granted, it looks pretty official

But looking at this logically for a moment if we have a wheelbase of 3255mm and an overall length of 3540mm both as given in the document then that gives a difference of only 315mm to account for the measurements from the centre of each axle to the front and rear overhangs.  Assuming that each tyre will have a rolling radius of approx 275mm then mathematically a length of 3540 would be impossible for a 3255mm wheelbase.

Here's a few sites that agree with my measurements

And plenty that don't :D

Just looked at the spec in my 1800Q/Zetec SEIW build manual (printed in 2000), dimensions are as follows:

Wheelbase         2346mm

Track, front        1311mm

Track, rear         1330mm

Length, overall   3540mm

Width, overall    1560mm

Height, overall   1100mm

Thanks for checking this out guys!

I'd measured up a plank of wood with the 3225mm WB and then stuck two drumsticks on either end at the so i got 160F/170Rmm ride height. Then took it to the top of our drive and "ran" it over the hump! It only just went over (it touched very slightly in the middle).

If it is indeed the shorter measurement I should have no problems going down!

My neighbours on the other hand now think I'm a proper lunatic.

Lovely.

The typist probably works as an accountant for the Labour Gov  :p
