Hammy Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Just a passng hope , just been for a test drive on a "Y" reg Micra 1.0 CVT.. Drove very well actually ( slow tho!), and a bits of fun in a hair dryer sort of noise way However on the down side the throttle pedal seems very heavy -not stiff or notchy like as with a worn cable, juast a thou it had a large spring on it. Anyone any experience down this specilased alley and can comment ? appreciated. Quote
V8grunt Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 No experience at all Paul, Although my mum had one once! Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Nope, it's reasonably light on the one I've driven. Quote
RichP Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Micra's tend not to have "heavy" pedals, so I'd suggest either it needs a new cable, or someone has added a spring somewhere because they thought it was too light. Quote
ACW Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 are you sure it wasnt the floorpan you were pressing against. Quote
cast iron Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 which model is it, if its the later model the pedal is electric - fly by wire but i guess its the cable type in which case there may be a double cable, one going to the box for the kickdown (yes really kickdown) the cvt is by far the best of the auto boxes might just be a need for a new cable but check the routing and that it hasnt become detached from any clips first Quote
Rob Navin Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 I do Micra distruction testeing if its any use I could come over and break if for you ! Quote
frubpato? Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 not a lot of help , but I have just driven a Nissan Sentra in the US with CVT. Really quite impressed - not that quick off a standing start but real world was good and on a light throttle it did 80 at about 2k rpm . The rest of the car was US style crap but the engine and CVT was good Quote
moomin Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 CVT is ace. A bit odd at first, but once you are used to it, it's just great. Very efficient to be accelerating at or around peak torque most of the time. Indeed, we'd all be driving them if they hadn't been banned in F1 all those years ago. moomin Quote
