Q reg avoidance at a sensible price

I want to put in a 2.0l zetec but I would rather have an age related plate rather than a new plate in order to be able to reuse a diff & gearbox from a Sierra and avoid the tax on a new car.  

How much tax do you pay if you get a new plate ( and use a recon engine)?

Can you have an age related plate with 2 major components and a recon engine?  After all you can have a new plate with one recon major component.

The guy came to inspect my wessie and I just told him most of the car was from an old sierra and I gave him the log book details, he was none the wiser and I got the original plate!
